Description
The MBS multirake bar screen is a robust and reliable filtration system, featuring a set of bars with specific spacing for effective screening, and a movable rake or set of rakes. These rakes clean the filtration area and transport the captured screenings towards a discharge chute. This equipment is well-established and recognized for its reliability and consistent performance.
The operational logic is straightforward: the bars capture particles, creating a blockage that leads to a rise in upstream water level. At this point, combs (rakes) activated by chains come into play, removing the screenings and directing them towards the discharge area.
A mechanical arm system is employed to ensure thorough cleaning of the comb during the discharge of screenings and before the start of a new cycle. The design, notably lacking lower sprockets, eliminates common issues such as comb blockages due to screenings accumulation and simplifies maintenance by removing the need to extract the screen from its channel.
To further enhance reliability, a mechanical torque limit system is incorporated to prevent chain issues when unexpectedly large objects reach the screen. For added safety, this mechanical system can be paired with an electrical system to monitor the motor’s power consumption.
While the most common installation is in a channel, the system can also be adapted for placement in a tank for special cases. The construction materials include options like stainless steel 304 or 316, and for specific demands, duplex stainless steel. The combs can also be made from HDPE or UHMWPE upon request.
Key advantages of the MBS multirake bar screen include:
- Clog-free operation.
- High flow capacity.
- Easy maintenance and installation.
Additionally, the unit can be equipped with a control panel, available in electromechanical or PLC configurations, to meet various operational requirements.
